Keynote speech held by Ms Prof. Dr. Renate Schubert on:

"Nachhaltigkeit und Wirtschaftswachstum – unvereinbar oder aufeinander angewiesen?" (Sustainability and economic growth – incompatible or dependent on each other?)

At first glance more sustainability does not seem to necessarily generate more economic growth; nor does more economic growth appear to necessarily lead to more sustainability.  What exactly are the obstacles looked at from the point of view of society as a whole and what can be done to make progress in both areas? What role do universities play in this context, i.e. how can research and education contribute towards the opportunities presented by sustainable economic growth being seen and used?
